Coaching Little League® is a choice you’ve made to serve the children and families in your community, and for that, Little League International says, “Thank you!”

We realize it’s not easy to volunteer your time, even if you have a child in the program, or on your team. The challenges of being a coach, however, are rewarded by the sharing of fun experiences, and forging positive memories that will last lifetimes. MORE

About the Project
As part of the water district’s 15-year Clean, Safe Creeks Program, the Permanente Creek Flood Protection Project, located in the cities of Cupertino, Los Altos and Mountain View, has been selected for improvements in flood protection, structural repair, sediment reduction and habitat restoration. The planning and design phases of this project are included as part of the water district’s Capital Improvement Plan.

The project began construction in 2017. Environmental documents were completed and certified by the water district's board of directors. The water district received resources agency permits needed for construction.

The McKelvey Flood Detention Basin construction update was given in December 2016 and is available in PDF. To receive project updates via email from the Santa Clara Valley Water District, join the Permanente Creek Flood Protection Project mail list.

McKelvey Park Detention Basin
The McKelvey Park detention basin would be approximately 18 ft deep and would accept high creek flows, reducing the amount of water in the creek and reducing flooding. Water would drain from the basin within a couple of days as the high creek flows subside. Flood waters would only enter the basin in large storms that are expected to occur once every 50 years. After a flood event, SCVWD would repair flood damage and restore the site to its preflood condition.
